A new space for sauna rituals on the Cauberg

Thermae 2000 takes the next step in its evolution as a leading wellness destination with the introduction of a new panoramic infusion sauna, set high on the Cauberg in South Limburg. The newest sauna is scheduled to open to the public in August and will be able to accommodate 85 guests.

Not a traditional extension, but a deepening of what has defined Thermae 2000 for decades: craftsmanship, tranquillity and the power of ritual.

At its core lies aufguss culture, an age-old tradition experiencing a strong revival within the European wellness landscape. During an infusion ritual, thermal water enriched with essential oils and botanicals is poured over heated stones, while the sauna master carefully guides heat, scent and airflow throughout the space.

The result goes beyond heat alone: an intense sensory experience that stimulates circulation, supports detoxification and induces deep relaxation. At the same time, it creates a ritual moment where focus, breath and awareness come together.

The new sauna translates this tradition into a contemporary setting, centred around three elements: heat, essence and space. Heat as a physical effect, scent as a sensory layer, and the surrounding environment as a calming framework.

Overlooking the rolling hills of South Limburg, surrounded by nature and open views, the experience gains an additional dimension. Here, the pace naturally slows and wellness becomes something to be consciously felt.

The official opening will be celebrated in September 2026, with two special weekends dedicated to international aufguss culture. The sauna will be completed in August and will already be accessible to guests ahead of the opening, allowing them to be the first to experience this new space.

More details will follow, but one thing is certain: this new space is not simply designed for relaxation, but to experience wellness in a more intentional and immersive way.
