About Thermae

Thermae 2000 was founded in 1989 on the Cauberg mountain in the tourist village Valkenburg. It started as a spa and has expanded with several facilities, of which guests were using the thermal baths more and more. In 1993 a four-star hotel with 62 rooms was built for leisure guests. In 2010 Thermae 2000 opened a lifestyle division that offers consulting and guidance in the field of nutrition and exercise, for body and mind. Thermae 2000 is literally a source of good life.

Healing water

Thermae 2000 is built on top of three water sources. The healthy water from these sources has been isolated from the meteorological cycle  for 40,000 years and was therefore not exposed to all kinds of contaminants, which makes the water full of minerals. Thermae 2000’s water is being pumped up from 381 meters down and comes from an underground lake that stretches from old volcanic areas in Germany. The thermal water in the inside and outside pools has a healing effect on body and mind and invites the body to fully relax. As far as known, this is the only flowing water in the world that does not contain cesium radioactivity. This is why the water received the great title ‘Ursprünglich Rein’ (orginally pure) by a German authority. The sweet water comes from sources with 80 meters depth, from the same layers as the SPA sources, whose purity has been promoted for years.

The many whirlpools  and underwater jetstreams in the pools offer extra relaxation for your neck, shoulders or back, which makes a trip through the pools an experience of itself. The water has a comfortable temperature of  32°C, as if you are stepping into the tropics.

Pyramid power

There is a thought behind the construction of the pyramid. The emerging pyramid that pierces the two roofs with its golden tip was built with a perfect angle of 52 degrees with the ground level. In addition, the sides of this pyramid are built exactly in the wind directions: east-west and north-south. This creates special powers  in the pyramid’s interior, which makes meditation at the highest point much more intense. People who are sensitive to this will notice a remarkable energetic sensation on a certain point when walking up the stairs. The are theories about sharpening razorblades or improving wine quality when putting it in east-west direction.
